i. Anyone can challenge the fencer above them in order to take their place if they win.(see v.)
ii. Fights will be to 15 hits. If the challenge is defended, places will remain as they were.
iii. For every weapon only two challenges can be made per day per person, providing the first fight was won.
iv. In case of being beaten, a fencer can’t challenge his challenger until a next training session.
v. If the fencer immediately above is not present, the fencer that follows can be challenged. If the challenge is won, the challenger takes the place of the challenged and fencers previously above, (the challenged and the absent), shift down one place.
vi. For case v, if say 6 is absent in two consecutive sessions and number 7 challenges 5 in both, failing to win the challenges, 7 will swap places with 6 (or in the case of more absent, all those absent above him shift one place down, providing they have all been absent two consecutive sessions). Number 7 will still have to challenge 5 twice before being able to swap places with 6.
vii. If the number 1 rank is absent for two consecutive sessions he/she will drop to 2nd.
viii. Priority for challenges made at the same time: If two or more people ranked consecutively challenge the person in front of them in the same session, (e.g. 7-6; 6-5), then the fight between the highest ranked fencers takes precedence (i.e. 6-5 and then the 7-6 fight). If places are swapped in the first match, 7 will still fight whoever is in 6.
ix. Challenges have to be made at the beginning of the session or as soon as possible on arrival and written on the white board for all other challengers to see.
x. Ranks will be displayed on the black board with the Velcro straps.
